Summary: This Senior Citizen & His Ab Coaster ...
Comment: I'd say the Ab-Coaster is more so expensive than over priced if one factors in on top of this being a really well made, precise, piece of engineering and construction, the value of its amazing ease and convenience of use for this 57 y.o. ...True a bench pole and sturdy wall/doorway with some ab straps will give one a cheaper way of doing what this unit does, but for myself with the lower back problems I've encountered in my aging, waning physicality, and expanding mid section (especially over the past decade), the ab straps are now out of the question for me as I'm not much on taking any chances of throwing my back out in this renewed stab at getting even a semblance of my core back ... So for anyone with the same concerns as I've expressed, and the disposable income to purchase for ease of use and convenience, the Ab-Coaster is for you ...

This unit is light enough (69 lbs) to have shipped to your work if necessary so as not to have to lose a day. It's very easy to put together (all tools included), but take note not to cut the plastic restraining ties holding the glide seat before it's completely assembled ... What's great about this unit is that it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and that you can start out in small increments toward the stomach muscle curls that you do ... I started out very slowly with short reps and was really impressed that I felt no strain at all in my lower back, just a wonderful burn in my upper stomach muscles ... The instructions will tell you to kneel deep into the glide seat so that the tops of your feet fit snuggly against the rear of the seat (which works well for working your top ab muscles), but I've found that in order to work my lower ones I've had to move my knees back about 2" from the front of the seat ... If you buy one experiment with the positioning, but be sure not to lean forward nor use your arms in pulling up your mid section as the instructions say, and it won't take long before it'll become easy to intuitively use this unit ... Personally I've found the seat locks for working the obliques to be at an far angle that I don't find comfortable, so I use the unlocked free style ... What I find better about this is that it allows me a more rounded targeting of my oblique workout ...

While I now finally understand why/how most of us let our core go as we age, I've also come to fully understand all the problems that come out of it ... There is a reason why it's called "the core" ... When I first started using this unit a little over a month ago I was still wearing my back brace - not anymore ... I really like this machine, and I find myself just getting on it anytime I want to knock off a few reps ... Not only am I regaining strength in my mid-section, but a better ease of movement is also being regained ... In closing I bought the Pro for the padded seat and arm rests, and the faster shipping at $20. and it arrived within the time frame ... Hope this review is helpful ... Have a groovy day!
