Summary: Comfortable, but pricey!
Comment: Note: I understand from a friend that Polar USA will take back old/warn-out sensors and send you a new one for $25 or so. You might want to check into that if your looking for a replacement that is out of "Juice".

This replacement sensor is comfortable, but they sure are pricey! I personally never found the old plastic sensors un-comfortable, and if my girlfriend's dog hadn't eaten my old one out of spite, I wouldn't have bought a new one! -Recommended

Summary: Better than the original
Comment: I purchased this transmitter when a similar one I had stopped working correctly due to corrosion. This one is designed much better than the one that comes with the F11 watch. It's a pretty big investment, but I have found it to be invaluable!

Summary: Excellent Product from Polar
Comment: This is my favorite heart rate moniotor that Polar has made. Finally, no struggling to take it off....it is easy to slip on and off with the new hook design. I depend on it for accurate monitoring and it delivers. A great product.

Summary: Excellent
Comment: I bought this to replace my previous wearlink transmitter that my dog chewed up. I have to say that I am extremely pleased with this one. It is updated from the original one I received with my unit and it is more sensitive and fits more comfortable than the original wearlink. This is by far the most comfortable heartrate monitor transmitter available.

Summary: In the beginning
Comment: I was pleased with my transmitter. I actually upgraded from the old style to this type because of the ability to change the battery. While I have been very pleased with the performance of this transmitter while the battery functioned, I cannot say the same when the battery began to wear out. I purchased new batteries and brought them home to attempt to change them. Unfortunately, I was not able to take off the cover. In the process of attempting to get the arrow on the cover to move from close to open a number of times, the inset has now been damaged and cannot be opened. After contacting Polar, my options were to send it in for repair, at least a three week process (too long in my opinion) or have them send me a new cover and have me go to a watch repair place and hope they can get it off. Either way, I am out almost as much money as I would have been just to buy a new transmitter, which I wish I had done.

As long as you are comfortable with replacing this transmitter at a cost of $54.95 every 18 to 24 months, this is a good deal. But if you plan on keeping it for the long run, you might want to find another transmitter to purchase.

Editorial Reviews:

The Polar WearLink transmitter combines superior Polar technology with a new fabric design. The electrodes, which pick up the heart's signals, are engineered right into the fabric strap. The result is a superior fit for any individual body shape, providing revolutionary comfort and full freedom of movement. The transmitter's textile strap is removable and machine washable. Its clip-on mechanism ensures quick and easy wear, and the belt is easy to put on and take off.

Polar's coded technology ensures that the user picks up only their heart signal, and not the signal of another heart rate monitor nearby. With millions of HRMs in use today, there's a good chance that someone working out next to you may also have one on. Interference from any other HRM is now eliminated and an accurate signal is ensured.

About Polar
The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.
