Customer Rating: Summary: It's for girls Comment: Silly me -- the word Midsize did not register. When I got it, it was easy to see that it was a GIRLIE watch. Amazon was good with the return/refund process, though. Then I ordered a watch for a DUDE.
Customer Rating: Summary: Poor calorie counter Comment: It is stylish, it is comfortable, but it NOT and accurate calorie counter. For a 30 minute walk with an average HR of 140 bpm, it calculated a calorie expenditure of 366 calories. Oh, that it were so! I contacted Timex customer service, who actually gave me the formula for how they calculate calories burned. The formula and the HRM gave entirely different numbers. I was pleased with how it measured HR only. If you are looking for a HRM only with no calorie counter, it's OK. If you want an accurate calorie counter, look further.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great watch. My wife loves it. Comment: Got this watch for my wife who does indoor cycling. She loves the watch. The watch is midsize and looks and works great. Highly recommended. Great price on Amazon.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's okay, I guess Comment: Well so far so good it does what wew wanted it to do. Though I have not been able to get any information on how it calculates calories burnt, the numbers it gives are much higher then what we get from any of the workout equipment we use.
The big comment I have is when they say mid size they really should say child size. My wife has small wrists but even she has to use the last third of the holes on the on the band.
It does what it is suposed to do so I cannot fault it there the only part I have a problem with is they should be more clear with the fact that when they state it fits smaller wrists they should clarify that means elfin or child size wrists.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good buy! Comment: I intended to use it for lap-swimming, but have not used it in the pool yet. I've been pleased with its performance during workout classes and on the cardio machines - the heart rate monitor helps me target the proper workout intensity.
The chest band is a bit uncomfortable because I'm small. It took a little bit of time to get used to the chest band. The chest band is low-profile, and I don't feel that anyone can see it under my workout clothes.
The watch is nice, and fairly simple to use. The indiglo is a nice feature. Operation is NOT intuitive - You will have to read the manual to figure out all the features.
Edited to Add: After reading additional reviews, I feel I need to add more info...
- I went with the most affordable and BASIC model I could find. This watch met all my criteria, and was the best value for the features. If you want high-performance for heavy use, skip this one and go with something else. For about $60 this is a bargain.
- small size, teal color, and made for a woman. It is about the same size as a man's dress-watch. I estimate that its about 1.5" wide.
- Battery in the chest strap is easy to replace. The watch will indicate 240 bpm when the battery needs to be replaced.
- some water on my skin prior to attaching the chest strap is all I need to get a good reading. The monitor portion of the strap must stay on the skin to get continual readings.
- you will need to read the manual to unlock all features, but in general the watch will recieve the heart rate a few moments after putting the chest strap on. If not, hit the heart rate button to activate.
