Summary: Yes It IS for Pilates
Comment: The Frelonic Mat is not supposed to fit the entire length of your body. It is only necessary to protect the spine, the hips, and the knees. Pilates involves "rolling through the spine" and the extra cushioning of the Frelonic Mat is the only one suitable. To be so picky about the length is just plain being picky.

Summary: Not for Pilates
Comment: This mat is under five feet in length, which means (at 5'8") I couldn't even lay flat and be entirely on the mat. In addition, it is less than two feet wide. This might be a great mat for aerobics where you are on your feet, but look elsewhere if you practice Pilates, yoga, or other exercise that involves laying down or sitting with your legs outstretched. (It did seem to be high quality and was very lightweight. If they had a larger size, I would consider buying it.)

Summary: Great mat! I'd give it 5 stars if it were just 2" longer!
Comment: I've spent a considerable amount of time searching for the perfect mat specifically for use with floor exercises such as sit-ups and stretching, and this is the best I've found so far. While standard yoga mats work well for yoga and pilates, I find they lack sufficient density to protect things like knees and elbows from my tile floor. When trying thicker mats, I found that many were too "squishy", allowing the surface area of the mat to collapse under the weight of areas in greatest contact with the floor. If you're looking for a yoga mat, or a mat on which to do aerobics, this isn't what you're looking for. If you're looking for a great mat for stretching and floor exercises, this is it. Here's a quick summary of the pros and cons as I see them: Pros:
- Ultrilure® cover is great. Most mats I've tried are plastic-based, and therefore induce sweating where there's skin-to-mat contact. Not this puppy! That feature alone makes the Frelonic mat my first choice.
- Superior firmness and density while still only 1/2" thick. Perfect for sit-ups and stretching where there is pressure on sacrum, knees, elbows, and palms. Unlike many other mats, this one will not bottom out.
- Very lightweight, with thin profile. Makes it easy to tuck away between the couch and the end-table for easy daily access. (I have the Pro Mat, which is the folding model.)
Cons:
- It could be a tad bigger. It's 22" wide x 58" long. Although I'm not using it to do yoga or anything where I'm extending the entire length of my body, I do sit upright on it, extending my legs out to either side. In this position (I'm 5' 4"), my heels extend just off the edges of the mat so they press against the hard floor. However, I can live with this, given the other superior aspects of the mat.
